About Us
About Coolorado

We make dog beds and crate pads for people who are tired of replacing them. Built by hand in Pine, Colorado, from mil-spec 1000D Cordura and CertiPUR-US memory foam. Standard sizes and custom – if you've got a weird crate, a non-standard space (van, RV, custom kennel), or a dog who's destroyed everything else, talk to us.
Who's making it
Todd and Lisa Murnan. We met on Facebook because of dogs – both deep in dog sports, 10 dogs between us at the time. We got married, moved to Colorado in 2014, and bought a log house on five fenced acres.
Long before Coolorado, dogs were most of what we did:
- Todd won the Ashley Whippet World Championship (disc dog) in 2009, and raised six service dogs for Canine Companions before that. He was also on the Purina Pro Plan Performance Team for several years, and now runs Halftime Dogs Flying Disc Show, providing frisbee dog halftime entertainment for major sporting events.
- Lisa wrote The Beginner's Guide to Flyball in 2012 and founded Fine Dog Living in 2019, a Facebook dog community that's now close to 11,000 people.
So when we say we know what survives a high-drive dog and what falls apart, it isn't a marketing line. That's the entire reason this company exists.
Why dogs
Because we have a bunch of them and nothing we bought held up. Quin (Dutch Shepherd, chewer, troublemaker) was the original problem. Then we needed crate pads that fit our custom KBC van kennels and discovered nobody makes those. So we taught ourselves to sew on a $200 Singer off Amazon, acquired more mil-spec Cordura than we knew what to do with, ruined a lot of it, and got better. Once we decided to make it a real business, we upgraded to Bernina machines and bought a thousand pounds of memory foam. Then we started solving other people's dog problems too. Everything we sell is something we either own ourselves or built because a friend asked for it.
We stand behind all of it. If something we made fails the way it shouldn't, tell us and we'll make it right.
What else we make
The Cordura dog gear is the main event, but we also make a line of handmade bags, collars, leashes, straps, and belts – mostly from reclaimed Chinese brocade paired with the same mil-spec webbing we use on the crate pads. Those live on Etsy: staycoolorado.etsy.com
